Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 60-70F, sunny!!
Comments:
Another weird day. Slept in...slightly, then hustled over to Axis PT, where I'll be doing some (light) per diem work over the next month. That lasted, 1.5hrs, then I hustled over to the coffee shop to send off some coaching emails.
The idea was to do a LONG run (3hr) today, but I didn't have the time. Turns out, it was a good call to only do an up and down.
I wanted to run "honest" today, so I pushed it a bit on the climb. The weather was fantastic, and the trail was in A- condition (light mud at the bottom). So after some stretching and drills, I got after it.
The big form focus today was:
- NO SWIVZ - strong arm swing using the scaps
- whole (medial) foot strike
- L hip stability (secondary focus)
The outing started off strong: <12 for the first mile and then a decent 25ish split through 2. But then I (apparently) really fell off, with just barely under 40 for 3, then a ridiculous 17-minute 4th mile split (57), to finish in 67:48.
I worked HARD, like a 60-flat effort, too! AHR = 168! Oh well. Apparently the allergies were bad, but I didn't perceive that to be the case.
The descent was measured and conservative, but still 40:xx or so.
PM: hustled home, cleaned up, then had one last PT appt with Mike, who worked on my mid-back mobility to help my footstrike. He checked my hips and they were "Decent" - the first time they weren't SHIT...in a long time! The lack of SWIVZ (and me wearing the pelvis belt) helped, for sure.
No yoga tonight - PT went way long, and I didn't make it. Met CA for beers at T&G after she was done with yoga.
Overall...I *think* I'm generally fit, but way out of the run-climb shape, that's for damn sure!
