track session with Mike

April 23, 2015 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
LONG DAY...at the coffee shop! Started with another cash "home PT visit" for an hour, then planted my ass at Brail's and worked my ass off on:

- David Riddle's gait report
- a new blog post (on why I'm passionate about LCHF)
- revamped my website+blog to make it a helluva lot more professional (looking)

Got home at 4:30, ate some nut butter, then quickly went about doing my laundry, hauling ass to Enterprise to pick up the car rental for this weekend+, then finally to Mike's house for the track session.

Today was a repeat of our great workout, pre-Sonoma: 3xROR K, 3x200. I knew Mike would be tired from our long run, but then he said that on Tuesday he did 4mi of tempo instead of 3. While it went well...I wasn't super-pumped about it.

It'd rained on and off all day, so the pollen would be a non-factor. We both felt flat on the warm-up and strides, but went after it.

I set the pace on the first one, and got us out too hard (41s 200, 85-86 400m), then Mike did the surge...but barely broke 40 (we were 37 last time). Final 400m in 90.

That was was OK, but on the second, same story: he led in 90, and when I surged around, he didn't close. I ran 38-high and he, 39 again. We then closed in 91. Ugh. On the second recovery, he told me he JUST had a full leg massage like 3hrs earlier! Double-UGH!

We did one more flat ROR - same splits - then I pulled the plug on the 200s. Cut the losses.

NBD, but a little disappointing. Leasons learned: don't do extra-credit work, and no pre-workout sports massage!

Jogged easy back to his house. Maybe six miles total.

PM: sort of a big deal: Callie had two friends (one friend, and HER friend) from Florida visit. They rolled into Eug at 8:30 or so and we went to T&G for beer. I was SUPER-tired, but it was good to meet Lexi (and her friend, Kylie), and I think it went well. Sort of a big deal, as this is the first of her pre-Oregon F&F who's met me.

Hit the sack at 11, super-tired.
