Blue Ribbon Hunt

June 2, 2015 (Night)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: cool and cloudy --> sun! Gorgeous

Comments:
I led tonight on a beautiful evening. It'd been misting all day but let up by evening and, by the end of the run, was sunny.

A good group tonight:

OGs: me, Lewis (fresh off FOUR fucking "Nate Loops" on Saturday), Dan-o, Tommy
Callie, Emily, Nathan, Hammer

The emphasis on tonight's hunt was "100 mile specific", so we went hilly, slow (on flats and ups) and quick-footed on the downs. Ran from Lewis', along the rolling side-streets to Rexius, then up Old Dillard to the backside of Baldy. It was muddy and slow, but runnable. Did a backside summit, then took the powerline road way east, then turned north into the unknown roads & trails of the land around LCC.

I wasn't exactly sure how to get back, and it turns out we had to take the overgrown "Barkley Hunt" route from two months ago. Thankfully it was still pretty cut back and passable...to walk. Had to hike for a good mile, total, including when Tommy led us on a side trail that turned out to take us nearly all the way back to Baldy. Ran Spring Blvd back.

I felt great for the vast majority of this run. Averaged 120 HR for this 10-miler with 2K vert(!). Downs are just great right now: the feet strength has created a significantly faster turnover, but it irritated my right hamstring a bit. I also feel like I'm not lifting my right foot enough.

Also focusing on a strong trunk & pelvis on push-off, ala the single leg bridges. Did about 50 per side today, so I was a bit sore.

PM: chatted a shitload about the legalization of weed on how it will impact Oregon, and ate a bunch of random crap for "Dinner" (nuts, chips, cheese, olives, hummus...more chips). CA brought us a variety of beers from T&G.
