Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 70s, pretty nice
Comments:
Was pretty tired today and not wholly looking forward to the track, but I got out of work early, which was nice. Drove to SEHS, did a mile on the track, then a lap of stride. Also did some stretching to make sure the pelvis was moving properly.
Workout: 2x(4x400, 100jog). I've done this workout a lot, and at times, fast. But not today. I settled into 80 and pretty much stayed there.
Major form focus:
- cadence
- "Elite Feet" (straight ahead, Power Ray - only slight knee bend)
- quick arms
Felt strong, but damn, I got tired quick. Used the E3s the first set, and holy shit, was it tough. Ditched 'em in the second set.
I saw solo for the whole workout, but Lewis showed up to "cheer" with his daughter, which helped keep me on task.
Splits:
78.5, 154
80.1, 164
80.6, 167
82.1, 170
81.0, 159
79.4, 169
79.2, 170
77.3, 171
Not bad. I'll be patient with all this and recognize the benefits of any speed work, especially when I'm not over-pushing. Never thought that I was running real hard. In fact, my breathing was almost "too slow" for the bulk of it.
But once again, it just goes to show that a big factor in fast running is muscle strength to support it. That's what it felt like: easy, then...quick muscle fatigue.
Did two laps cooldown, then grabbed a beer with Lewis.
