"High-Five Run" (Wallowa-style) with CA

November 28, 2015 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: teens, slightly breezy

Comments:
Up a little earlier today: we wanted to have more time for a snowshoe adventure, so CA and I got out by 0845 for this run. We left the snow-covered trails behind, but - since the roads are severely limited on the south end of the lake, and we didn't want to hammer on the highway - we did a series of a few out-and-backs in the park-area, first (akin to CA's Florida "high-five" cul-de-sac run):

- out and back south the THs
- out and back into the State Park CG
- out and back to the SW boat launch
- out and back (LONG) along the highway

The first 3 out and backs got us 3 miles, so we had to trudge 3 miles north on the highway, then back. Not much traffic outgoing, but coming back in, we hit a lot of cars, which was annoying. The road surface was mostly dry, but in the shade, it remained icy and snowy.

I was pretty dang haggard, but CA was doing well! We ran all 10 miles together - averaging 8:30 pace (her "usual" like for six months has been 9-10 pace!) and her HR was pretty low.

To liven things up, we did a 30-step stride every half-mile, doing a total of 7 on our way back to the cabin. At first they felt horrible, but by the end, it felt good to break out of the flat road hammer.

**NIGZ ALERT** I felt some strange lateral R ankle pain and stiffness on the run. Wasn't sure what it was, but I eventually deemed it peroneal (fibular) muscle-tendon pain...from running with my damn right foot straight ahead! The arch was super sore (again, the reaction whenever I use it correctly!). So it bugged me a little on the run...but worsened as the day went on...
