NOTHING day - HATE these

February 1, 2016 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Other

Comments:
I HATE these days:

- wake up
- eat
- study
- go to work
- STUDY over lunch (NO working out)
- work more

The saving grace from today was that, after work, I had dinner with CA, then met Hannah Shallice for a beer at Bier Stein. She's one of Craiggers' old ski patrol friends (equally friends with Laurie), but she's also a super-smart PT.

We met because, for the past 1.5 years, she's been a PT at the UO Student Health Center. I'm SUPER-interested in a possible job opening there, and I wanted to hear her perspective. I'm a bit skeptical about the work load differences there ("only" 18-23 year olds?). She said some interesting things:

- they treat "6-7" patients in an 8-hour day! In contrast, I see anywhere from 12-16.
- 45-minute sessions, and TWO x30-minute paperwork (PAID) sessions, and TWO x15-minute mid-day breaks, AND paid lunch. This equals no more than 5.5-6hrs of patient time a day (Me: 8).
- They get ALL the time off during the school year (and only winter break isn't paid for)
- NO ONE works full time in the summer - they basically "float" part-time, so you can take BIG chunks of time off!
- She said how cool it was to "serve students", the bulk of whom are "cream of the crop", but still have a lot of physical struggles.
- And, like coaching, it's an opportunity to "mentor" about well-being, to "kids", early on!

Wow, I am pretty impressed. I can only hope that the opportunity will come along, and I can pounce on it, and nail it! Having her - and her boss, Shannon - know me and like me, helps a lot.
