"Skinner Deuce"

February 13, 2016 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: dry, a little stagnant air

Comments:
Good day: slept in a bit, then went to another great Lindsay yoga class at nine fifteen. They just ROCK my glutes and are good mobility and balance, so it was good stuff! I was reasonably sore from skating, so it was a good double-whammy.

After that, I went to work to print off my Hip Module stuff, read one article (while I started following the OT26.2), then went to the coffee shop to study more.

Met Ilisa at 1:45. Her knee is SHITTY. She's been running for 42 YEARS(!) but has the body awareness-injury logic of a teenager. She CANNOT go up and down stairs because of severe pain, yet WENT RUNNING TODAY ("running doesn't hurt!"). Had a long discussion on "Progression of Forces" (what's ACTUALLY stressful, versus when you feel symptoms) and came up with a game plan. AND now I have to see her early Monday AM in the clinic, which is annoying.

AFter that, more studying. Got a LOT of reading done, then re-upped my student loan income-driven pay-off plan (AND...then tried to re-consolidate! Sick of these high interests).

Got home around 4:30. CA had run 23 miles-4.5hrs on her own at Hardesty. Between that, and ALL the hype about the OTs, I was a little bummed. The foot was OK all day, but still - I'm not really running, and certainly not TRAINING, or even remotely fit.

I wasn't sure about it, but decided to go run. I'm now going to call this short loop around Skinner Butte, the Skinner Deuce, since it's almost exactly two miles.

My foot was freshly taped this AM, so it felt both supportive and a little too tight. As such, I had some post-lat heel soreness, along with some of the usual heel and arch micro-soreness.

Big focus on shifting the pelvis LEFT, then the usual foot, hip and trunk cues. Felt pretty OK. Did x3 short strides at the end.

PM: ate, then went out for Matt Thornton's 35th birthday: to Falling Sky (terrible beer), Ninkasi tasting room (no Reign, but a good citrus hop beer), then Hop Valley. By Ninkasi, he was pretty ripped, but it was good (and rare) fun! Had some good chats with Ricky again, but far more in depth, about coaching. He REALLY wants me (and CA!) to come down at coach HS at Cottage Grove. He's apparently going to finally take over CC in '17. It was a reminder of how much I miss true team coaching...

Long night of socializing, but we were still home by 10!
