Montana de Oro with Thomas

June 5, 2016 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Slept OK, then up early to get in a trail run. Drove about 15min out of SLO (after a coffee!) to a trail network that was a mini- (smaller vert) version of the Headlands: no trees, bit rolling ridges along the ocean, but much more mellow.

COOL conditions with socked-in fog, which was nice, but it was HUMID. Started with a jacket and within a couple miles I could've gone shirtless! HR was jacked and asthmas present...and still quite thrashed from Friday.

Thomas was smooth on the narrow (and at times rocky) climbs. We did about 1500' of vertical, including two really nice viewpoints. Had some good mellow ridgeline flats, too, which were nice.

The best was a LONNNNG gradual downhill, where we worked on the "hungry hippo" big hip gobble stride. This was like a new concept to him (as it is with a lot of runners).

GOOD RUN. This was his longest run in 7 months? Quality.

Post-run:

- home to his place to shower and eat breakfast
- I worked on Valerie, his wife, which was really helpful, I think
- we wrapped up
- he brought me to the airport

GOOD VISIT. It was the best it possibly could've gone: really honed his stride, had a great time with him and his (awesome) family, and I got some good help with my business stuff!
