June 3, 2016 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: mid 80s, pretty warm
Comments:
Decided to kick-off summer trail-grind running with a Hardesty loop today. Plan A was to do a Constitutional, but it was HOT - first legit hot day of the year (like mid to high 80s).
Got there at 2:30 after an AM of work. I let CA get a head-start, as I was going to go threshold up, and would go a bit faster. I jogged about five minutes in the lot, then headed up.
HOT and HARD. Didn't feel good. About a mile up, I came upon CA, who'd been run off the trail (literally - jumped and fell) by a MTB flying downhill. Ugh. We passed a couple more, once I was ahead, and I warned them to slow up.
I was about halfway up, feeling ROUGH, when I realized it would be an up-and-down, only.
Summit (HR):
68:10 (162)
On the down, I got out front and pushed a bit. But I would stop and wait for CA. She had a couple bad ankle rolls, so I slowed up and ran the last 2mi with her.
OK run, but YEESH...NOT in long ultra-trail shape! Made me think hard about what THIS felt like, compared to what shape Lewis is in...there's a big difference! It goes away fast, but thankfully....it will eventually come back!
