Another attempt to get out camping: worked during the day, then packed up, intending to do some camping. We thought about it last night, but were too tired to pull the trigger. The weather was nice during the day, then began to go to shit in the evening.

Ran just before sundown from the Westfir TH, the usual up and down river. Felt pretty good. After that, we cleaned up and went straight to 58 Drive-In, just before it closed, to hammer some excellent burgers.

Once we finished, it was about 7:30...and the weather had really gone to shit: cold rain. But we drove up, anyway, hoping for the best. Got to Waldo Road and it was still shitty and borderline snowing. Drove to the Twins TH...to find rain, standing puddles, and lingering snowbanks. Brutal, no way we're camping there. Undeterred...we just kept going west, hoping to get over the past to "the dry side".

Got to Crescent Lake and drove toward the lake, toward some public lands. FINALLY found a dry-ish place (although it was saturated with a week's rain), but at least it wasn't raining up there.

Once there, we found a pull-out and set-up camp: me starting a fire, CA setting up the topper. The former was tough at first, but the wood we got in Oakridge burned hot enough to dry out the wetter wood adjacent it...and after a while, it was a HUGE blaze. Had a couple beers and enjoyed ourselves, then got in the topper...

...only to discover a TON of mold. Ugh. CA did her best to clean it up, but it was plenty damp in there. But we went to bed, anyway.

Neither one of us slept well; CA could NOT fall asleep, and was non-stop fidgeting, and that kept me up. Finally, at 1AM, she awoke, congested and with a sore throat. Uh-oh.

So we pulled the plug and, for the second time this year, drove down the hill in the middle of the night: aborted camp. Oh well.
