March 10, 2017 (Afternoon)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 60, really nice
Comments:
Got to P.Hill an hour early to do "trailwork" on our Bates loop segment that cuts between properties. Johnathan got there a little after me, but we cleared a downed tree (small one) and a metric assload of overgrowth, including a ton of blackberry. Lots a fair amount of blood.
For practice, we intro'd some strength (bridges, all 4's leg ext, reverse crunch, push-up plank short & long), then ran easy. Got out front with Hunter and Callan and ran with them, about 8:20 pace over the Bates loop, then out of town on Enterprise. The kids love to just run flat, so I "suggested" they run on Morningstar, which is actually a beautiful, rolling country road that dead-ends after about 1.5 miles - making a perfect out and back.
REALLY enjoyable run. ALL these kids are so awesome. Once we all got back to the school, I said some encouraging things about the time trial (which WAS awesome), then dismissed them, but stuck around, talking a bit with Jonathan. HE'S a great "kid", too!
It's been a great experience so far, for sure!
Post-run
- drove to Oakway, just to shower
- then drove to Matt's (my old) house to watch the Pac-12 tournament (ducks-bears)
Found out today that my former office manager Alie (who's about 5 years younger than me, that I've known for 8 years) has cancer. In the hospital on chemo right now. Just sucks...
