UO barefoot (+track!) + Fairmount

July 26, 2017 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Mid-day run. Pretty heavy, post-Hardesty, but came around once I got barefoot.

I've got it in my head that I need to get my feet tougher. Even though I'm happy I can (and consistently do) run a couple miles, 2-3 days a week, barefoot on the turf, it seems logical to me (especially after Hardrock) that if you want to do well in a rugged 100-miler, it should be conceivable to do a couple miles on a hard (if not abrasive) surface.

Today I ran to the UO fields, but rather than stick strictly to the turf, I ran one one field that's within a square track surface. There, I ran: half a lap on the turf, then half a lap on the track (outside the turf). Each is about 150m. Perfect combo!

After that, I ran out a bit farther to Fairmount, but skipped the hill climb. Finished up back at the office with x6 strides.

Averaged maybe 7:30s on this run.
