July 16, 2017 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 90s, SUPER HOT
Comments:
Woke up, drove down to the rest area, and I made fluids while CA did her morning routine. From there, we drove into SLC to get in a run before breakfast, and the rest of the drive to Oregon.
I found this park in southeast SLC, but...it was a dud. Rather than a green park, it essentially was a prairie ditch...like a savannah in a ravine, with super-sandy, dusty horse trails. It was like 10ish when we arrived and already SUPER-hot, but we ran it anyway.
I felt like ASS. We shuffled along on the trails for a couple miles before getting sick of it, and climbing up to the road above. From there, we were nearly content to pack it in at 3 miles, but I suggested some 30-second pickups, which we did, x5, with 1:00 jog rest. Felt fine enough.
Not sure why I felt SO crappy; obviously the double run on Friday?
Rest of the day:
- breakfast at the good place in SLC
- hauled ass across to Oregon, getting maybe 12 miles per gallon into the wind!
- got to Lakeview, Oregon, mid-evening, and made dinner at this teeny ski area just outside town (Warner Canyon), as the sun set.
Solid day.
