Telluride - San Miguel Creek Trail with CA

July 15, 2017 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: high 70s, hot already?

Comments:
"Slept in", slightly. Felt pretty damn haggard after the long day and night, but CA wanted to get in a run on the awesome creek trail in town before we headed back to Silverton.

Got up, dressed, then walked-shuffled over to the Telluride AS, just in time to see Bruce LaBelle, who was pacing a [slow] friend. He paced over halfway, meaning that, when we saw him, he'd started on Friday afternoon, and was already over 16 hours into his pacing, yet only halfway into his duties! Hard core!

After that, we hopped on the trail (whose eastern terminus was at the AS), and headed west. Lots of folks on the trail at mid-morning.

I felt...pretty rough, but I guess so did CA. We ran nearly to the other end, but turned around at 3.5. CA took a tumble and scraped her knees, good.

We both struggled on this run. Might've been the cumulative altitude, heat, fatigue. Who knows? Just a tough run.

After that, we headed back to the campground, hopped in the creek to rinse, then showered, made coffee, then hit the road, for the long, circuitous drive to Silverton.

Got there a bit too late to see Steven finish, but he did! 31:xx, which was good for like top 20, I think? Once there, we parked on a street near the finish, to watch folks come in, while making breakfast.

We hung out, chatting with folks, 'til about 4. It then occurred to us that we had a LONG drive ahead of us, needed to be in Lakeview, OR, by Monday morning. So...we took off, and headed north.

Drove all afternoon into the night before finding a random little forest road in eastern Utah to sleep. Had a fun pre-bed hangout, looking at stars in this tree-less prairie.

Good day, great week!
