Sunset Bay SP - easy (light grind) coast trails, then grind-road tempo

August 27, 2017 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 50s, cool!

Comments:
Slept in again. This time, I did an experiment: no cream in the coffee. I dunno. I know I've been super-sensitive to types of heavy whip, recently, but yesterday? Yeesh, I was half-comatose!

So today: just coffee, no cream. Felt good and, unlike yesterday, fairly excited to run.

Ran 2 miles solo around the South Bay, then linked up with CA. We avoided the steep hills and ran straight along the coast trail, finding an awesome ~0.5mi loop that, someday, I'd love to tempo on. But today, we continued all the way to the North Bay. Got there at 5 (my 7) miles, then started a 3-mile tempo back to the van.

Yeesh, I felt stiff at first. CA got out quick but, with the rollers and climbs, was only 7:00 pace. Split 6:58 for the first mile. CA fell back a bit and, since I was feeling decent, I eventually took off after stopping to wait for her a bit.

It climbed and rolled, but with a net 200' uphill over 3 miles. Over the final mile, I actually felt pretty damn good, but overall worked. Splits:

6:58
6:50
6:10

MAJOR form focus:
- pelvis left
- hinged (hip load)
- arch back
- NO SWIVZ

My glutes and hams feel rocked from this adjustments. Fucking hell. Doing the right thing, for sure, but obviously I've been doing "wrong" for quite a while. Again.

Stopped at the van, then jogged a mile (somehow missing CA, who went the opposite way on the loop).

GOOD run but plenty for today!

Rest of the day:
- shower
- various bakery and breakfast scouting. No breakfast but got some donuts
- drove back to Eugene. MAJOR SMOKE
- weights at In Shape. GOOD session
- some work, then beers and burgers at Coldfire

GREAT weekend. Felt a lot better without cream today.
