Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 60, much better air...
Comments:
Woke up at 7ish and it was SMOKEY AF. There's a huge ridge outside our rental, maybe a few miles away. You couldn't see it. Just grey AF.
"I REFUSE TO RUN!" Literally. The crew, including Bert's sister Candace, were going to drive and go on a long hike, but fuck, I got ill just riding in the car yesterday! Those guys have a tendency to do stuff without a lot of planning or foresight, and - after last weekend? - I simply bowed out. So they went, and I stayed home.
Did a bunch of stuff:
- Strength and mobility. FUCKING hell, my back got all stiffened up and both abs and core are "shut off". Spent a TON of time working on that, which got things moving and firing. Did several minute plus "hip abduction" holds, then about 200 air squats, amoungst a shitload of abs and push-ups
- worked on a video for my iRF column
- sent some e-mails
- r-logged
- took a nap
-...then otherwise hung out: watched TV, relaxed
It was...OK. A little boring.
The air gradually improved starting around 2PM. By the time they got back around 5, just as the Ducks game finished, it was legit "OK". They were going to Apgar, a little mini-town inside the park, so I agreed to meet them there, on foot.
Ran essentially a near-continuous bike path from our place to Apgar, on the west side of Macdonald Lake. Even though my glutes felt rocked from the strength, the stride actually felt GOOD.
Ran straight 7s or under for the 5 miles there. I could feel some smoke in the air, but it wasn't bad. Worked hard on both pelvic symmetry, but generally being tall & forward, and pawback.
I met up with them on a boat launch dock, where several people were watching the huge fires across the lake, which have closed Going-To-The-Sun Road. After a bit, I ran back to the house.
The asthma built up a bit then, as did the wind, which began to HOWL to the east, so like dead in my face, which was brutal as I climbed the final 2 miles back to the house. Frustrating!
Felt...tired.
I had to make excuses but...CA was also sick (again)...I either began to pick that up, or the smoke rolled me. Felt pretty crappy the rest of the night.
