South Eugene with CA, including 4x200m

September 25, 2017 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Saw a couple clients, then CA came by for a run. She wanted to do some speed, so I went along to watch her run. She'd gotten a head start on me, so I'd only had about 1.5 miles of running when she hit the track.

I taped my trunk before this run, just to "work on" the trunk symmetry. It felt awkward and crappy. On top of that...I felt asthmatic for some reason. It was a little hazy...

CA ran a 200m and looked really good, so she asked me to run them with her, and I obliged.

Normally I'm at least 2s faster than her, and since she likes me to "run her down", I started late. The first one, I BARELY caught her. The tape was super restrictive: in motion (probably a good thing) but as it turns out, also in breathing.

Same thing for the next 3: I either barely caught her or did not. It sucked. However, we were running pretty fast! I then did one more on my own...running hard, but in a lackluster, shitty 34+!

SO FRUSTRATING. I got angry and kicked the fence when we were done. CA spent the rest of the run trying to give me some perspective.

Splits:

35.3!
34.0
32.9
34.2

She talked about my need to workout with others, to take more rest, etc. But it wasn't til I ripped the damn tape off that I realized how I could barely breathe with it on. On top of that:

- I had barely any warm-up
- yesterday we'd run (I TEMPO'D!), biked AND lifted, so I was stiff

I dunno. I feel better about it now, but it was still frustrating. Speed is an indicator of efficiency first, fitness second. That I've lost SOOO much speed this summer has been an indicator of efficiency loss.

Anyway, I also need to go see Mike, to de-stiffen some things.

Ankle was OK with the tape on. I don't think I used my feet too well on the 200s.

I added on on my own, but not that much. Felt spent.
