PRE with Matt, then PRE+ solo

October 15, 2017 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 60, sunny, dry...FALL! (CHERISH IT!)

Comments:
Another strange day. Late sleep in (9:30), then more work. Annoying how much I have to do...but can I complain? I'm laying around at home! Got out some key e-mail marketing to boost clientele -- keep 'em coming!

Why? We're putting an OFFER ON THE HOUSE Monday! Yeesh! Scary. It's "only" $315K (that'd be like, a shed, in CA), but still... We can totally afford it, but...I just hate the idea of that much debt. But...it's a great house.

Thought once again about driving for a long run, but I knew I wouldn't be up for much longer than about 10. I messaged Thornton about running, which he could do in the afternoon, so I waited.

Drove to his place. After a chilly morning, it was PERFECT out: 60f and actually like no-shirt weather.

Felt stiff and clunky but came around. Matt only had time for a brisk 4, so that's what we did: from [my old] house, west into PRE, then around the pond and back -- nearly all bark.

In a short run we had more good convos, piggybacking on Friday night. I asked him about his dad (who died unexpectedly when Matt was 20), and related both the story of my brother, and myself -- the whole idea of "forming a coherent narrative of your life", and how those father elements play. That transitioned into coaching chats, too, and how those wounds affect our interactions with athletes. GOOD chat. Really looking forward to forging some good stuff with him at P.Hill.

Got back to his house and milled around a bit. I "felt" like I could've been done, but...I knew I needed to "loosen up" more -- AND it was so damn nice!

So I went out again, same loop, only farther. Really tried to "Find Ease" with the stride:

- Back arch (butt out)
- Forward
- knee out
- FLICK & PULL

Felt...not super-energetic, but strong. Finished with x5 strides.

Splits:
- first 4: 8-low, 7-high
- last 6: 7-lows (quick for bark)

PM
- happy hour beers at Coldfire and "coaching notes"
- groceries
- home for dinner
- bed before 10
