"Over the River and Through the Woods" Run - Lonn's Christmas Run - Creswell, OR

December 9, 2017 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: high 20s, cold, foggy, stagnant air

Comments:
CA and I went to Lonn Robertson's annual community Christmas run. He lives in the foothills east of Creswell (about 8 miles SW of P.Hill, off I5) and he puts on this cool run plus Christmas party at his house in the woods, each year.

CA and drove there early. Since it's a point-to-point, I dropped her off, then drove to Lonn's and ran the 4 miles down to the start as "warm-up". Ran with Larry Coxe, and nearly 60 year old super-fit dude and spouse of a former PT client mine. Nice guy, good chats.

Felt a bit stiff at the outset, but the gradual downhill helped.

Once to the golf club start, I had enough time to deuce (out nachos) before we started.

Big group of a ton of Eugene road runners: lots of current-former clients and good people. Ran easy for 2 miles with CA 'til she ran the short (4-mile) course back to Lonn's. I continued on and ran the 10K.

The first 2-3 miles is very gradually uphill. I ran with some old master's guys for a while, slight grindy, then decided, "oh hell", I'll just keep grinding...especially since there were like FIVE women uber-grinding ahead of us!

I was running pretty hard, and it took FOREVER to catch up, but I reeded in all the ladies over the final 2K or so. Was definitely working hard. The last K, especially, is steep uphill to Lonn's.

Good run, but still breaking through the stiffness!

Rest of the day:
- changed and socialized and ate good food at Lonn's
- home, showered, and to Allan Bros to write a solid column on "Chemical Stress"
- home, then out for beers with CA.
- REALLY COLD night, but super-chill, fun hangout
- stayed up too late binge-watching "Sneaky Pete"!
