Very short run

April 3, 2018 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: overcast but warm

Comments:
Worked in the AM, then spent a big chunk of the midday working on expensing for taxes. I think. It was a blur. But really, what I did was spend a shitload of time on the phone, with:

- Ben Ellis
- Tammy Ellis
- Gary

It's less terrible than it seemed last night. The Ellis' aren't outraged, just "upset" that Sam was upset. They get it.

As for the rest:

- Daelyn's mom is on the war path. Quite plainly, she wants me fired.
- Gary is in my corner. He was there, he knows what was said.

So it was a slightly better place when we arrived for practice, but at about 3:26, Randy called me and whisked both Gary and I away for a meeting that wound up taking nearly an hour. It was essentially Part II of the formal investigation of the issue.

He'd already talked to Rayna, Daelyn's mom. And what a pile of bullshit that was: that I was "psychologically abusive" to Daelyn, and that I'm a threat to her.

Gary and I simply outlined "the facts" to Randy: of the issues preceding (back at the beginning of the season), the chat we had yesterday, the aftermath, and that was it. Pretty straight-forward.

But it SUCKED. SO disappointing. So much drama. And it really hit me, and pissed me off, to be sitting in that office, while the kids were out there (thankfully with Callie) doing the workout without me. That's when I got really angry. It was double-selfish: I was being taken away, and I was missing running that workout with them.

But goddamn, I'm thankful for guys like Randy, who have our backs, who do a really thorough and professional job, and see these things through. They'll continue "The investigation" to include talking to (nearly all) the kids, tomorrow, I guess. I have full confidence we'll be clean. We've run this program with integrity. Maybe not spotless execution -- indeed, we mis-calculated and mis-calibrated with Daelyn, but the worse this gets, the better off it was to address it!

Got out to the track just as the kids were starting their 2nd set of 300s (after having warmed up, did drills, strides, and the grind mile, too). I had zero warm-up so I only watched and tried timing. The girls, being led by CA, were running fast. The boys were too damn slow. I got them going faster, from mid 50s down to 49-50 for Hunter (his date-goal 1500 pace).

After the 3s, we did some 150 "swing out" strides, then cooled down on the infield. Hunter asked if everything was OK. They all know something big is up. I assured him as much as I could that "we're OK".

PM: no hunt, no beer, just home. Pretty tired.
