May 28, 2018 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 85 by like 9!
Comments:
Got up early, packed up, said bye to mom, and headed west to MPLS. There's a now iconic (and SUPER-competitive) 5K in Minneapolis on Memorial Day. I ran the Brian Kraft 5K a few years, and it's where I ran my PR: 15:32 in 2002. It's a single (1.2) loop around Lake Nokomis, so it is super-flat and literally has NO sharp turns. Just a big, gentle left curve.
I figured it'd be a fun place for CA to race, and since it's super close to the airport, really convenient.
She did OK: 19:20. Not super-fast, but off her "post-collegiate best" by only 10 seconds in that heat!
I jogged 2-mi of warm-up, then about 2.5 mi during the race, then a good 0.5 mi cooldown.
The ankle is PO'd from the weekend. I need to tape it. For sure.
Rest of the day:
* jumped in Lake Nokomis to "bathe"
* flew MSP to PDX
* drove home
* did a 30min bike ride and yoga
Solid day and pretty solid weekend. Could've been worse...
