Busy day. No patients, but three coaching chats totaling about 2.5 hours! Sindre on the phone, then coffee with Laura Lee, then on the phone with Kim. After that, I hustled to run errands to prep for the weekend.
Brent came by before 2 and we took the van up to the Pass for the Waldo Training Camp weekend!
Part 1: Cascade Lakes Highway Ride
Since we were going to do a very long run tomorrow, and Nate was out, we decided on an easy ride. Drove a few miles up the CLH, parked, then road about 20 miles total (10 & 10). Bike felt super-slow and clunky, might've been some stuck brakes and wheels at first. Then they came around.
Good, beautiful ride along a big open meadow and burn area (that I remember was fresh in 2003), and some lakes. And GOOD CHATS with Brent. He's a really solid guy. Lots of cool experiences. He's got a great combo of ambition and perspective. That's super-rare. And he's a good communicator.
80 minutes on the bike, then back to Crescent Lake. The Jaqua family cabin is pretty great. Not swanky, "but NICE". Right on the lake. Jumped in to rinse off, then had a great dinner with Nate's wife & kids, and another couple -- Andrew (another longtime HS friend of theirs) and his wife and daughter.
Cool to see MULTIPLE good dads!
Good day, excited for tomorrow. BIG RUN in store.
