China Creek/Washburne SP - "Dippin' Dots Run"

February 9, 2019 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: brisk...then Dippin' Dots snow!

Comments:
Slept in 'til 8:30...then got about packing up for the coast. We were thinking about going to the coast last night, but it was late - and CA had a friend hang-out, so we decided to save $$ on a night's hotel.

Super-winter here today: dusting of snow in town, and snow basically anywhere over 1000' elevation. Took my truck to be safe, and glad we did: legit snow on the coastal passes!

My ankles were pretty stiff so we ran on the perfect trail: the "China Creek" trail, just north of Heceta Head Lighthouse, about 15 miles south of Yachats. It is mostly flat, low and protected from shitty weather.

There's not a ton of trail, but there's a 1-ish mile loop in the middle of a 2 mile "stick", so we ran from the TH to the main campground, all the way to the ocean, doubled back, then hopped on the loop (which features about 300' of shit-burger/loop)...then did it all over again. Turned into a perfect 8-miler.

Good run. Felt GOOD.

BIG FOCUS ON ARMS TODAY. Gosh, why do I always forget?

* 2013: BGD spies "The Swivz" at Napa, then a month later, I'm running wayy faster
* 2014: I forget again, 'til I start doing workouts on the video treadmill at Tensegrity = WAY faster

Happening again, I hope. Just way faster and stronger on uphills, particularly.

The two tells I'm NOT using my arms:

1. Uphills are crazy slow and hard
2. Tons of upper shoulder and lower neck stiffness (in life)

SO I really focused on that today. Felt good, if not a bit grindy.

Rest of the day:

* successfully snuck into Adobe for a sauna (which I have to do for my heavy metals cleanse)
* checked into our little Drift Inn room
* NAP!
* Beer and snack at Yachats Brewpub
* Dinner at Drift Inn

Fun night!
