Exercise Type: Run
Weather: maybe 80? Nice
Comments:
Dan-o "led" tonight. It's been year(s) since I've seen him run, due to chronic knee pain (from a nasty "leaner" issue he was having in '15 and '16). For whatever reason, he decided to run, ostensibly to lead from his new house on College Hill, about 8 blocks north of our old place.
Solid crew:
OGs: me, Dan-o, Lewis, Hammer (now officially OG at 6 years), Tommy
CA, Evan, Andrew, and new guy Jason (that CA invited, and an old patient of mine)
Ran from Dan-o's, south, up and over college hill, then up to Morse Park (near our new house), then ALL the way up Crest/Blanton to Ridgeline.
LOTS of grinding: Dan-o grinded for 1.5 miles, then Lewis took over, grinding even harder! CA and I kept up, but it wasn't an easy effort. The pack got strung out pretty good.
We knew this was going to be a long route: to Ridgeline, then east, all the way to Amazon trail and back. That would've been nearly 10 miles. So beforehand, CA and I dropped off the UP van along Amazon.
Good call, because I started to have (post-quinoa) gut-rot mid-run (mostly from the downhill after we crested Ridgeline). That, and my right heel was pretty stiff, and I was overall tired.
We bailed at 6.5 miles - plenty of running!
While the rest of them ran 3 miles back, we pounded a quick pFriem pilsner at Jiffy! Tasty :-)
Social at Dan-o's new place, outside on their big deck (not unlike LB's old place). Fun times. Had some good chats, mostly with the OGs, which was enjoyable.
