Reno - Mt Rose Summit up-down with Bert

October 26, 2019 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Bike

Weather: 30s - 40s, sunny

Comments:
Slept in a slight bit (til 7ish). CA had a longer trail run on the schedule. My ankles were OK, but not ready for a long trail run. Bert isn't running a ton, either, so we decided to ride to the top of Mt Rose summit, which, at 8900', is the "highest year round pass in the Sierras", connecting Reno to Lake Tahoe.

It was an awesome ride: while it was a tough 80-minute straight climb, it never got too steep, the traffic wasn't terrible and the views were awesome! Got to the top, then flew down a couple miles to check out the ski area, then all the way down to a coffee shop just outside Uncle Andy's neighborhood for a delicous "OML".

Really fun!

Rest of the day:
* cleaned up and had a (rather cheapo) breakfast in downtown Reno before dropping Bert and Courtney at the airport
* super high-falutin' "luncheon" at John/Andy's friend's house, which included some really off-putting (even for my fat palate) "foie gras", lots of (expensive, but not very appreciated) wines, and a lot of otherwise great food that...had dairy.

This was #2 of our hangouts with John/Andy's affluent friends/neighbors. It was "fun"...but still a little uncomfortable.
