SEHS loop + SEHS barefoot(!) + weights

November 21, 2019 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: sunny, nearly 60!

Comments:
Worked in the AM. It was SUPER-cold early, then warmed up really nicely.

The plan was to do a couple treadmill miles and lift, bu once I was done with work for the morning, I walked outside and it felt so nice that I kept it outside.

Ran a SEHS block loop. Felt pretty good -- a little stiff -- then went to the turf field.

The best my feet have been in 7 years was when, after my plantar episode of early '16, I began to barefoot run regularly. I did this just as it was getting better: starting with less than a mile, then working my way up. I never did a ton of miles (not sure ever more than 3 at a time), but it did two things:

1. It got my feet and lower legs stronger
2. It (unknowingly) improved stride width and whole-foot strike!

So that's what I did. Ran about 2K to the turf, then about a mile (maybe less), then ran back to the van. Left ankle felt a little stiff, but not too bad.

Fun run, and good lift.

Rest of the day:
* saw two afternoon/evening patients
* ...ankle/heel got pretty stiff. Dang.
