Baldy up/down (hike up, run down) with David

December 18, 2019 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 50? not too bad

Comments:
Busy day:

* up at 530
* weights at 600
* saw patients 7-noon
* had a coaching running meeting with David, where I was going to demo power-hiking up Baldy

In general, David (age 51, cardiologist) is a super-strong runner (and super-hardcore low-carber and intermittent faster), but like a lot of our clients, has a lot of room for improvement in climbing and descending. So we met at Baldy to do just that.

Doing a Baldy was a gamble. I hadn't run outside in 1.5 weeks (and then, only a mile). But I was feeling better, and I wanted to give it a try.

Meeting at Martin St, I jogged about 0.3 'til he ran up, then we jogged over to the starting gate for the rep.

Hiked pretty hard, but...David was really challenged by the hip hinge position.

Uphill: 14:30 or so. Wasn't too bad for hiking the entire rep (except the downs/flats). We then ran downhill with me demo'ing a hip hinge there, too.

Down: ~9:15.

Solid!

I left him there to do another two reps, solo.

I ran the 0.3 back to the van.

Felt decent!

AND, best of all, I was NOT that sore afterward!

Rest of the day:
* hustled home to get ready to leave
* airport at 2
* flight to Seattle
* flight to MSP
* Billy picked me up and (after a long delay for my damn checked bag!) we got to mom's at 1:30am

Big day, but good.
