December 29, 2019 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Walk
Weather: misty, cool
Comments:
Got up rather early - not sure why. It was still dark when we peeled out from Ft Stevens SP. We drove south to Cannon Beach and got coffee just after 7:30...and stayed there for nearly 3 hours! Did work, enjoyed ourselves...
Went back north to get in some exercise. My ankle was feeling remarkably good from yesterday, so I figured I'd do the same: power-hike and maybe run some.
Parked just outside the park and hiked/ran up into Ecola, then onto trails.
The trails were in disastrous shape. In classic Oregon fashion, I'm sure they're great in late July, but a total mud-fest. HIked down to a beach, then back up (and barely made it!) . After that, I stuck to roads: more pavement into the park, then I found a double-track that led to private logging land that I hiked on.
The ankle...never felt great. It didn't seem like running would feel good, so I didn't til the very end, and tried to do a mile. I think I did, but it hurt.
Oh well.
Rest of the day:
* changed, then drove south
* stopped in Pacific City at Pelican and had a beer and a snack
* drove to Yachats (CA drove while I did coaching)
We'll be in town now 'til New Year's Day. Fun tradition.
