Hood - Meadows night skiing - x1 run!

January 30, 2020 (Night)

Exercise Type: Other

Weather: rain, low 30s

Comments:
CA drove while I did paperwork for like 2.5 hours! Once in Zigzag, I finally finished and I drove.

It was too warm out. We got to Government Camp and it was like 40 and raining. Past that (uphill) to Hood Meadows, it was misting and mid 30s. Uh-oh.

Even worse? I forgot my damn (waterproof) ski jacket! I'd have to wear a non-waterproof puffy...

But once we got going, the mist stopped, so we went inside to buy our lift tickets. Once outside, it began to mist again. Unfazed (ish), we got on the lift.

Zooming uphill on the express lift...was wet. Fingers were crossed that it would stop...but it was only shittier at the top!

Cripes.

Skied down in basically a rainstorm. Not "heavy rain", but a coast-like wall of tiny mist drops. In some respects, it's way more drenching than big (less dense) rain.

Midway down and the water is soaking through the jacket and running down into my gloves.

I gave up after one run. Brutal.

We sat inside for maybe a half-hour - along with all the kids there for ski club - then bailed and drove down the hill.

Ate a late dinner at the brewery in Government Camp, then slept in the van in town.

Oh well. Good learning experience!
