Did some work in the AM, then we packed up and headed to the Olympic Peninsula. Did our old tradition of "OML's & coooookies" on our way out of town, then drove up to Astoria via PDX.
Felt a little off today: tired, almost hung over. Nutrition was normal (though we ate late again) last night. Not sure...but it could've been a mini-crash for how hard I worked yesterday?
Got biscuits at Pine State in PDX (likely a mistake - dairy), then pushed onward to Astoria.
Hindsight: it was a mistake to drive via Astoria, because not only was traffic stop-and-go for like 5 miles out of town, but we didn't actually do anything there, except co-op grocery shop, then push over the 101 Columbia Bridge to Long Beach.
Long Beach was annoying because there were SO many people! Honestly, I had a bad feeling about leaving home: covid19 cases are SO bad right now (and so few people give a shit). So it was unnerving to be around so many (dumbass) people.
After hanging there, we pushed onward and northward toward to Peninsula proper.
At 8ish, we finally hit the park/NF, deciding on Quinault Lake on the SW side. We found a cool "day use area' adjacent a walk-in CG on the lake. We had to haul in stuff a good 75m to a picnic table, but we were rewarded with a delicious meal and beer along the lake. We even saw an otter swimming near us!
Slept at a NF trailhead across the street. Strong finish to a day that started off a bit shakey.
No workout today.
