July 31, 2020 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: mid 50s, overcast, chilly!
Comments:
Woke up feeling pretty good. We had a bit of tea, then packed up, drove the short distance to the bay, and parked in the beach lot.
I wasn't sure what the plan would be today, other than "try to run".
We hiked a solid mile, which encompassed a fair amount of vertical from sea level, up to the ledge, upon which the trail and park traveled south.
Felt fine, if not great, hiking. Around a mile in, as we got to the main park and arboretum area, we began to run.
CA led. She was cleared to run three miles, so I figured, "Why not?".
Ran easy-ish to the Arboretum, then turned back before the trail descended to the beach.
LOVE this trail: beautiful forest and poke-outs to the coast, all the while with good footing AND flat!
Felt pretty good 'til the very end, then felt a little weird.
But after that, we walked it in, back to the van.
After that:
* "swam" (dunked) in the bay
* showered in the parking lot with our van shower
* drove north to Florence so I could treat Alan
OF NOTE, WHILE DRIVING:
* did a bunch more cranial and cervical work
* while doing an AP push on my left C2-3...I damn near blacked out (OK, not "near", but...significantly...and while *I* was driving! Yikes!)
Once at Florence:
* I treated Alan at Miller Park
* after the session, I did a bunch of leg nerve tension mobs (straight leg + rotation and side bending)
* TONS of lower leg nerve tension!
On the way to Yachats:
* my left thigh began to get really sore!
Once there:
* we walked maybe a mile 'til we stopped for a beer at "Yachats Underground", along the river (since they now have outdoor seating)
There: my left ankle and heel hurt SO BAD! Just THROBBED!
My initial thoughts:
* "I must've really over-done it!"
* "Man, I need to get an MRI"
But later? (Saturday, Sunday): IT WAS NERVE PAIN!
I basically "touched a nerve", literally: was overly aggressive with both my cervical/cranial stuff but also doing too much leg nerve tension mobs. It flared it, big-time!
But the good news:
* it was fine on Saturday (see tomorrow)
* anything you can FLARE, you can get better! :-)
Rest of the day:
* put the boot on
* made dinner at Smelt Sands
* watched "Ozark" in the lot, then drove up the River Road to Keller Creek to sleep. LOVE this spot!
