Campus/Hendricks w/CA

September 29, 2020 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 70, warm

Comments:
Great run today (arguments notwithstanding).

Treated only 1 AM client, then treated CA for over an hour, then did some self-care and ran.

HUGE focus again today:

* T-L junction extension
* sacrum "tuck under" ("vag up")

This does a few SUPER-important thingsg:

1. Gets the requisite trunk extension: for breathing, shoulder engagement and hip extension (thoracodorsal fascia). What ALL fast runners do really well.

2. Protects the low back. Sacrum "down" = prevents over-extension at L-S.

3. Decreases nerve tension. See #2

4. Facilitates WAY better hip flexion (upward/forward)_ drive! HUGEly important. This is like THE key for Walmsley stride AND for someday restoring my uphill running prowess.

Worked on that almost exclusively, with intermittent (but not enough)

A. Pawback
B. Arm swing (still issues w/L scap)

At first, the ankles sucked (first half-mile) then they were fine.

Ran through campus then up Birch St to Hendricks, around and down a bit up to Ribbon and around by Spring Blvd.

CA and I got into two annoying arguments:

1. Me trying to teach her that T-L extension/sacral flexion concept. She absolutely needs this. But per usual, she: has trouble conceptualizing, and gets SUPER crabby when I try.

2. She got annoyed that I was pace-pushing on uphills and at the end. She did a workout yesterday, and I did not.

Tough situation right now: I'm doing whatever it takes to just FEEL GOOD. Sometimes (often) that's running too fast. But right now it's all about efficiency.

Big step in the right direction today.
