Matt's Beer Run!
REALLY fun day. I based it off the classic Wisconsin Beer Runs I've done, that Matt and I first did for his 29th birthday!
During covid times it was more challenging. Thankfully Callie agreed to SAG wagon the whole thing!
ROUTE:
* started from his house (my old house 2009-2011) in West Springfield. His/our friend Ricky (Trach coach at Cottage Grove HS and long time friend) joined us.
#1. ran about a mile+ to downtown Springfield and Plank Town. Had a nitro stout.
#2. Ran 2+ miles(?) through PRE to campus, stopping at McMenamin's. Beer: IRA (good stuff).
#3. GOLF! Callie got us squared away so we "ran golfed" 6 holes with pull carts. Beer: silo of Hamm's! Golf was REALLY Fun and I actually played pretty well! I beat Matt (HS and college golfer) by one stroke!! The city course was soaking wet, making it pretty hilarious at times.
#4. Old Pad. PRE's hold employer in South Eugene, by Hideaway. There we played Corn Hole. I got my ass kicked (Thornton won).
#5. BEER RUN! Spolier: the beers were NA! Matt's wife and two daughters (9 and 7) came to watch us pound freezing-cold Athletic Brewing beers in the rain. I barely didn't break 7 (7:09) and mopped the floor with both Matt and Ricky (lapped 'me both!)
#6: Cornucopia. A mile plus to the south Eugene Corny. Long wait for a mediocre east coast IPA. Then, BASKETBALL! Girls joined us again to spectate our game of "Knockout". I. SUCKED. (too many short airballs!). Frustrating.
#7. Coldfire. No more competitions. Just one last (great) beer and food.
REALLY FUN day! And nearly 16mi covered!
SLEEP (last night);
* SOLID! 9 hours? Only woke up a few times
* was good with nutrition (no dessert) and only one 12oz beer
* I think Thursday sauna helped
