January 15, 2010 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: mid 50s, overcast, breezy, DRY!!!
Comments:
Met Jeff at Sheldon for another track session. Was NOT really in the mood to run hard; wasn't too tired, just not feeling it.
Did the usual 3-mile warm-up and the quads felt like they'd just FINISHED a track session. Eek. Thought about amending the workout, but kept with the original idea: on/off 200s: tempo/mile pace. THE GOCE-DOGG MILE WORKOUT!
Did 1.5 laps of strides, then got after it, tempo first. The first mile:
(~39)34.5
(42.5)34.9
(44.6)35.1
(47.4)34.6
~ 5:12
Jeff hung with me for the first 425m, then fell off on the first true recovery (though he smoked me in the hard 200). Did 2 laps recovery, then got after it for one more:
(38.4)35.1
(46.5)34.8
(45.0)34.6
(47.1)33.4
~ 5:14
Though tired, I felt GREAT -- the best my stride has felt in FOREVER. Really worked hard on, above all, the "engagement"/forward lean. The stride really took care of itself. I never really had to "think" about knee/hip/foot. Jeff concurred and said it was the best I'd ever looked to him, though I still had some work to do "relaxing" my foot and hip in swing/pre-stance.
1.5 mile cooldown. GOOD DAY.
A bit more work left today...eval'ing a friend of Reneau's. We'll see how that goes. Then Ninkasi Tap Room!!!!!1111one
