Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 60s to high 80s?? HOT
Comments:
Curious long run. With no class, I had all the time in the world. AND, after the fabulous work on Friday and all day Saturday, I was set for a great run.
But...it was rough.
It was likely my fault and nutritional: way too much corn (and seed oil?) and the "sipping tequila". I didn't feel hungover...but just horribly flat and "characteristically heavy" as I have been.
Ran slow and sluggish from their condo complex, north, to Penasquitos -- the same park I ran with Spencer, last fall!
From there I milled around: doing an up/down hill before heading west about as far as I could go.
Being an idiot, I forgot my filter bottle and/or handheld and all my calories. On top of that...there seemed to be NO running water in the damn park!
So as I made my way westbound, it was getting warmer and I was getting worried. About 8 miles in I pulled out my phone and found a "VON'S" about a mile-ish off trail. So I climbed out of the canyon to the store. There I pounded a Dr Pepper and half a calorie'd Vitamin Water, taking the rest with me.
I re-entered the canyon as I came, crossed over, then headed back. I forgot how technical/rocky the south end was! The going was slow: terrain, heat and my heavy-ass body making things slow.
But I persisted.
But as I quickly pounded the rest of my drink...I was a good 2+ miles from the house and dried out. Then I was fortuitous enough to find water: not any drinking fountain, but a hose labeled "HORSE WATER". No matter, I sprayed some on on my head, drank a full bottle, then carried a half with me.
Shuffled the final 2 miles mostly uphill back to Garrett's.
It wasn't pretty, but it was a long, slow 19-miler.
Objectively, it seemed the hips and pelvis et al kept moving, but it was overshadowed by how otherwise shitty I felt... oh well?
Rest of the day:
• brunch with G&C
• nap
• hair cut and color from Coral!
• beers and dinner at Ale Smith
GREAT TRIP!!
