Willamette Path AT w/Jeff

March 9, 2011 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
NOT a good run. Felt ill going into it; including having to mega-deuce at Skinner park. From there I started my AT, figuring I'd go hard, then meet w/Jeff and help him for HIS AT run on the other side.

My AT went pretty well: first time I felt "normally fast"; I did have a decent side/tailwind. Ran: 5:42, 5:36, 5:38. Legs felt good but my L 4th/5th toes, which began splitting a few days ago, felt shitty.

When I turned back to get Jeff, rather than running easy and readying for his AT, he was STRUGGLING -- running and breathing hard. Kittin me? So I ordered him to slow down as we crossed the river, intending to start the AT on the other side.

Pretty windy today and it got really bad right when I finished my AT and we turned back and started his. We "took off" into what was maybe 6:50 or 7:00 pace. Even I felt like crap. Ran a mile, 9:30 jog for a quarter mile, then another "tempo mile". Jeff fell off badly, even though the pace was only maybe 7:15. By the time he caught up after that repeat, I had to deuce BAD again. Squatted in the woods. Sheesh.

It was a brutal run for us both, but at least it was good work. Ran for 1:25, which was probably a short 12.
