North Fork Trail - Westfir, OR

March 25, 2011 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Today I called the bike shoppe in Oakridge for advice on trails to run, and they directed me to Westfir to run the North Fork trail, which runs along the North Fork Willamette river.

Got there just after 1 with the "idea" of 4hrs worth of running. They said there'd be a good 8 miles of trail out and back, at least, that I could either out and back or come back on the Aufderheide Byway across the river.

The trail was WET and ROUGH from the storm 3 weeks ago -- several significant downed trees. I brought only one bottle and nursed that. TIRED today; also several irritable pain stabs in the 4th toe L. Overall, my toes were irritable from break-down.

After about an hour, I figured I should just go as far as I could; made it about 1:10 before I hit too much steep ground and too much downed shit, so I turned back. The return trip was rougher because I was low on fluid, and I was TIRED. I added on a bit back at the covered bridge starting area to get 2:30 but did not wish to add on any more. Mixed feelings: I need the long stuff, but I can't burnout.

Had a lovely ESB imperial pint at Brewer's Union to wrap up the day. Very tired, though.
