"Amtrak Loop"

May 16, 2011 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
It finally clicked: I am CREATING my symptoms, not through "tension" (like with the achilles, possibly), but through neurological means: by hyper-sensitizing my nervous system AND/OR creating/"sprouting" new nerve cells that do nothing but amplify non-existant pain! FUCK!

I jogged in place last night after reading "explain pain" for maybe 5min. NO PAIN. But afterwards my knee felt "heavy and tingly". NERVE SYMPTOMS.

This morning: before weights I wanted to test the hypothesis. I know definitively that I'm fine with very easy running -- little "threat value". So I ran very easy (8ish pace) and had *positive self talk* the entire time:

- Your knee is FINE and HEALED
- The sensation is REAL (actual nerves firing) but it hyper-sensitization and NOT tissue damage!
- RELAX
- LET IT GO

I had no symptoms 'til about 5min, then able to manage it with only one stop/walk rest. The sx I did have was general patellar tightness. Another self-talk:

- That symptom was NEVER my actual pain/tissue area. It's not REAL.

It's about a 1.1 mile loop, about 8:30 in run time. I lifted right after. NO PAIN. Went away nearly immediate.

I finally get it. SHEESH.
